Banya Guide

The experience of Banya is very intuitive – the smartest suggestion would be to do what feels good.

  1. Please avoid entering the Banya on an empty stomach or immediately after a big meal; a satisfying meal afterward is much more enjoyable and helps restore your energy.

  2. We provide one towel per person for your use; however, feel free to bring your own towel for the pool and spa area. Please note that the Banya towel provided must be used to sit or lie on the sauna benches.

  3. Please take a quick rinse in our outdoor shower before entering the Banya, spa, and pool - this will wash away the day's stress, prepare your skin, and set the perfect mood for your experience. For better temperature regulation, we recommend keeping your hair dry.

  4. Make sure to dry off thoroughly, as dry skin sweats more effectively. We also recommend wearing a special Banya hat, available on-site, to help you adjust to the high temperatures and protect your head from overheating.

  5. Adhere to the clothing guidelines.

  6. For beginners, start with a brief session on the lower bench of the Banya. As you become more experienced and comfortable, you may move to higher benches. We recommend limiting your first session to no more than 10 minutes.

  7. While enjoying the pleasant waves of hot air in the Banya room, you may choose to lie down. However, remember to sit up for the last 2 minutes to regulate your circulation and prevent light-headedness when standing.

  8. Shower and then dunk into the pool, will make you feel refreshed between sessions. Remember, a cold plunge is a stress for your body, which means you should avoid it if you have high blood pressure or any other cardiovascular conditions.

  9. Extreme temperature contrasts, such as alternating between hot and cold therapies, can indeed have beneficial effects on your body. Hot treatments, like warm showers or saunas, can promote circulation, relax muscles, and help with detoxification. Meanwhile, cold exposure, such as ice baths or cold showers, can enhance blood flow once you warm back up, potentially strengthening blood vessels and improving circulation over time

  10. After the Banya and shower, your body craves oxygen, making it essential to take deep breaths while you relax outdoors in the fresh air

  11. Rest is a vital component of the Banya experience. There's no need to hurry back to the Banya room. It's also advisable to drink tea, water, or juice to replenish your body’s hydration and mineral levels.

  12. Feel free to repeat the Banya session if you desire. Typically, 2-3 sessions in a Banya are sufficient. The first session serves to thoroughly warm up your body, while the second and third sessions are often focused on the venik platza treatment, enhancing your overall experience.

  13. For a full Banya experience, we highly recommend trying the venik platza. This traditional Russian massage uses leafy bundles to remove dry skin and boost blood circulation, providing a rejuvenating effect on your body.

We encourage relaxation and warm conversations with your group, creating a welcoming atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.
